Cogent Energy Services is led by an experienced management and operations team. Its operations crews for all three service offerings aim to decrease downtime for operators while increasing production and the well’s profitability.
Chet Erwin, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Erwin has over 31 years of experience in building successful companies in the energy services sector. He co-founded both Hanover Compression Company (“Hanover”) and Valerus Compression Services (“Valerus”). During Chet’s tenure as Chief Operating Officer and President of the Operating Board, Hanover became a multi-national energy services company with revenues of over $1.2B. Under Mr. Erwin’s direction as Chairman of the Board and CEO, Valerus became the second largest Gas Services provider in the world with revenues exceeding $520M and EBITDA of $150M, both achieved in a four year time frame. In 2012, Mr. Erwin founded Diverse Energy Systems (“Diverse”). Under his leadership, in 3 years Diverse grew to a $50mm revenue enterprise with over 14 product lines. Mr. Erwin is active on the IPAA Education Board for the Houston Chapter and is on the board of a few select private companies.
David A. Gutierrez, Chief Financial Officer
Dave Gutierrez has over 35 years of experience in the energy industry. Dave began his career in the drilling and exploration industry, working 10 years for Diamond M Drilling and Apache Corporation. He transitioned into the oilfield services side working for Weatherford Compression (formerly Energy Industries) , and Exterran (formerly Hanover Compression Services) holding Director and VP positions. In 2008, he joined Valerus Compression Services as its Managing Director of Financial Services. After the acquisition of Valerus by Kentz followed by the acquisition of Kentz by SNC Lavalin, Dave remained with SNC holding positions of VP of Finance and Director of Commercial Latin America and USA. He has extensive domestic and international experience in accounting, project finance deal structures, credit risk and cash management, tax, treasury, and contract negotiations.
Chris Simmons, Chief Operating Officer
Chris Simmons has 27 years of operating coiled tubing units and managing coiled tubing crews. He began with Cudd Pressure Controls as an equipment operator in their snubbing and coiled tubing divisions. He has significant coiled tubing experience with other companies, including Dowell Schlumberger. In 1997, he helped found C&J Energy Services. Under Chris’ leadership as COO, C&J grew to 13 spreads across Texas and Oklahoma, 200 employees, and, at his departure, a $100MM company. With C&J, Chris pioneered many coiled tubing operations now used in everyday operations, including using coiled tubing on a well with pressure greater than 3000 pounds, which, at the time, was the first of its type using coiled tubing. After C&J, Chris was a Consultant for various E&P companies, including Devon, where he oversaw all coiled tubing operations for the Eagle Ford. As a Consultant, he constructed and implemented standard operating procedures, assisted with risk management for coiled tubing operations, and managed exposure reduction, policies, and procedures.
Diana Singson, SVP, Legal and Strategic Initiatives
Diana is a licensed attorney with over 10 years of professional experience building startups, establishing processes, executing strategic initiatives, and managing legal, insurance, and risk management departments. Her strategic responsibilities have included serving as Secretary for the Board of her prior company, serving as the Chief of Staff to the C-suite, process improvement, and creating and managing sales reports. Her legal experience includes reviewing MSAs, negotiating domestic and international rental agreements, and drafting and reviewing all contracts, including agency agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and distribution agreements. Diana also has experience with fleet and asset management, including building reports to manage rental fleets. At Cogent, she is responsible for reviewing MSAs and reviewing all contracts. She also manages the insurance department for Cogent, working directly with its insurance broker to manage risk and ensure proper coverage for the Company’s assets.
